Dogs and cats needing a new home and people who want somebody new in the family can get together for less cost during the Mercer County Animal Shelter’s “Take me Home from the Shelter” adoption event.
Starting Monday, the county animal shelter’s adoption fees will be reduced, said Director Lisa Williams.
“We’re going to run Monday through Wednesday,” Williams said. “Our dogs will be $30. The regular fee for dogs is $75. And our cats will be $10, and they are normally $40.”
Grant’s Supermarket has donated $2,000 toward defraying the adoption fees. Adoption fees cover spaying or neutering, vaccinations and deworming.
The shelter will be open from noon to 6 p.m. each day of the adoption event, Williams said.
“We’re trying to move as many (animals) as we can into homes and as many as we can out into rescue,” she said.
During Christmas in 2012, the shelter hosted an adoption even titled “Home Sweet Home.” More than 100 dogs and cats were adopted, and adoption fees were reduced. Grant’s Supermarket helped pay fees during this event as well.
We’re currently trying a new, improved comments system. Livefyre will let you log in through Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn or Google. The old comments system was actually two products – the built-in comments and another system through Facebook. Livefyre unifies these two and also adds support for the other social sites mentioned.
